Lava Liquid Embolization Agent indicated for embolization of lesions in the peripheral and neuro-vasculature, including arteriovenous malformations and hypervascular tumors.
LavaTM Liquid Embolization Agent is made of non-adhesive material.The different Lava formulations available allow the selection of appropriate viscosities depending on the size and blood flow rate in the vasculature targeted. For example, the lower viscosity versions Lava-12 features special embolic properties which is quite different from competitors. Due to its lower viscosity, Lava-12 can enable faster and longer antegrade flow of LEA during embolization, and accordingly lead to a faster and more effective penetration of the target vasculature.Whereas, Lava-18 is better suited to the treatment of endoleaks where the higher viscosity of Lava-18 is better able to resist wash out by blood flow. LavaTM must be injected through a DMSO-compatible microcatheter. DMSO solvent dissipates into the blood, causing the EVOH copolymer and suspended tantalum to precipitate in situ into a spongy, coherent embolus.
